For climbing & trekking enthusiast, undertake one of the following routes for a test of resilience and stamina. Maragu route and Rongai Route offers the diversity of the great Mt. Kilimanjaro, ascending from the southern side and descending from the Northern side.

Day 1 Arrival Arusha Airport

Arrival in Arusha and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 Marangu Gate

After an early breakfast, you start on a drive to Marangu gate. There after completing the necessary paperwork, packing and safety procedures/trainings  you will start on the ascent into the rain forest surrounded with ancient trees and draped with moss, lichens, ferns and other ancient vegetation. Whilst on the trek, be on the lookout for wildlife including Columbus monkey and other primates. After 3-4 hours you will reach Mandara hut (2700m) for your overnight stop. Here you rest before visiting Maundi crater with our mountain guide and enjoy the views of the Kenyan interior before returning to Mandara hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 Mawenzi

After a well deserved breakfast, you will begin the ascent out of the rainforest into the heathen moorland and alpine meadow to the Horombo hut (3720m) a 6 hours trek. Here you get the spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo craters and the vast plains of masai stepper. Then take an overnight rest after dinner.

Day 4 Kibo

Following an early breakfast, you will continue your ascent into the alpine desert habitat. Crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo (4700m). After the 6hours hike you get to Kibo hut for dinner and rest as you take in the extraordinary view of the sunset high above the clouds

Day 5 Uhuru Peak

After a refreshing breakfast you start for summit scree up to the Gilmans point (5681m) on the crater rim, reaching this point is an impressive achievement as the trail is steep, rocky and at a high altitude. From this point expect a snow covered trail until you reach the summit, Uhuru peak (5895m). This is a lifetime accomplishment! You take some time to rest at the summit taking photos and drinking tea before beginning the descent to Kibo hut for a well deserved dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Descent Rongai Route

Following a hearty breakfast you continue on your descent following the Rongai route. On this day you get to enjoy a short yet steep trail down to Mawenzi Tarn camp (4330m). Here you will spot exotic plants including giant lobelia and groundsel. Here you also get to enjoy the view of the magnificent sunset as you await dinner.

Day 7: Kikelewa Cave

On this day after breakfast, you continue the descent to Kikelewa cave (3600m) where you will take a break for lunch and then continue on to the 2nd cave (3450m) where you will tent for the night after a refreshing dinner.

Day 8: Rongai 1st Cave

After an early breakfast you will continue with the descent through the pine forest as you enjoy your surrounding then stop for lunch and continue on the descent to the 1st cave (2600m) in the late afternoon or early evening. Here you will find the tents already set up for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 9: Rongai

Following a well deserved breakfast, you begin the descent through the tall cornfields out through the Rongai trailhead. Here you will be picked up by vehicle to Arusha and back to the hotel for an overall rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Arusha

After breakfast you will be taken to the airport for onward travel.
